Experience your next adventure in Happy Valley, Pennsylvania! Many people don’t think of Central Pennsylvania as an outdoor recreation destination but there are an endless paddling and hiking opportunities in the area. FJ Sayers Lake located within the Bald Eagle State Forest is over 1700 acres and the creek that feeds it offers miles of kayaking options. There are countless hiking trails and wildlife viewing options in the region as well.

On this adventure we kayak different sections of Bald Eagle Creek and FJ Sayers Lake, enjoy some short hikes, visit the historic Curtin Village Ironworks and have a half day off to explore on your own. Use your down time to take a walking tour of “Victorian Bellefonte”, go fishing on one of the many local trout streams, take a ride out to the Elk Country Visitors center to look for elk, visit Penn’s Cave or relax at the Inn with a book.

Our lodging while in this area is at The Nature Inn at Bald Eagle. The inn is very difficult to get group reservations at we are lucky to have reserved the rooms that we did. The inn, part of the Pennsylvania state park system and located within the Bald Eagle State Park, was voted the #1 Eco-Lodge in the nation. With only 16 guest rooms overlooking FJ Sayers Lake, on site dining and hiking trails the inn is a perfect to get away and enjoy the outdoors.
