*Custom dates also available ** This trip has a maximum of 6 guests |
Newfoundland has a reputation for being friendly. Warm and welcoming, fun loving and funny to the core, the people here are also known for their natural creativity, unique language, and knack for storytelling. It is also well known for beautiful rocky coastlines, whale watching, icebergs and great outdoor activities like kayaking and hiking.
On this all inclusive trip whale watching by kayak is the focus but there are many other types of wildlife we see along the way. We also do some short hikes that offer amazing views of the coastline, visit historic sites and learn about the history of the area with local guides.
*Please keep in mind this is the north Atlantic and water temperatures rarely get above 50° F in the summer. You should be comfortable in a kayak and have appropriate clothing for paddling cool water conditions.

Itinerary
Day 1 – Transfer to St Johns, Newfoundland, get a shuttle to your local hotel then meet for dinner and an overview of the week.
Day 2 – In the morning we have a private transfer to Trinity where you will settle into your lodging and have lunch. In the afternoon we take a zodiac tour to look for whales and do some cod fishing. When we return to the dock, those who want to will be “screeched in” to become honorary Newfoundlanders. In the evening our freshly caught cod will be prepared for our dinner by our lodging hosts.
Day 3 – In the morning will get fitted for kayaking and tour the more sheltered Trinity Harbor. After that, if time allows, we will hike a local trail with spectacular views of the coastline. Dinner tonight will be at a local restaurant.
Day 4 – In the morning we head out on Trinity Bay for the first time. Trinity Bay is a more open body of water where we will likely experience some ocean swells common in sea kayaking. We will take the kayaks down the coast and paddle back to Trinity. Along the way there are opportunities to see whales, eagles, sea hawks and other wildlife. We will also stop at a secluded beach along the way for lunch. In the afternoon we will see the Trinity Pageant, a walking, outdoor show performed by the local theater that re-enacts the history of Trinity in a comical way. Dinner tonight will again be at a local restaurant.
Day 5 – In the morning we are back in kayaks to explore a different area of Trinity Bay. In the afternoon you will have time to explore Trinity on your own before enjoying another authentic Newfoundland dinner prepared by our local hosts.
Day 6 – We enjoy our last morning paddling Trinity Harbor before our private transfer takes us back to St Johns for the night and dinner.
Day 7 – We say our goodbyes and head back home.
*Itinerary is highly subjective to change based on wind, tides, weather, sea conditions, paddlers abilities and other unforeseen circumstances
** Guests need to be accustomed to paddling with skirts and have experience paddling in wind.
*** Depending on the conditions and ability of the paddlers, paddling a tandem kayak may be required when paddling on Trinity Bay.
